We’d been thinking of getting solar panels installed for a number of years, but just hadn’t gotten around to doing anything about it…..until now!
The team at start solar installed 17 panels, battery storage, and EV charger and water heater a few weeks ago, and we’re addicted to watching the APP showing the energy being harvested from the sun and locked into the battery for use during the day. Our electric bills are high, working from home, electricity is in constant demand. Since the installation, we’ve used practically no electricity, and we anticipate a payback from the system within 4 to 5 years.
The inverter and battery were installed in the roof space, leaving the wall space in the garage free. The water heater was installed in the Hot Press, and heats the domestic hot water supply when the battery is charged (but you can divert the energy directly to the water heater at will if needed rather than it going directly to the battery). The APPs that track the electricity generation are easy to use, and the system takes care of itself with no intervention needed once set up.

I had 16 Solar panels totally 7.12Kw (10 on front roof, 6 on back) installed on 30 Jul along with 2x 5Kw batteries.
I was very surprised that only 2 guys turned up as I was expecting a huge crew considering the work.
The two guys were tidy, polite & had the install finished & handed over by lunch time. Can’t fault them.
The initial consultation with Andrew was also quick & painless & he messaged the evening of the install to check I was happy with how the guys had worked & behaved while at my house.
The install was delayed due to the bank taking FOREVER to get the loan sorted but once the money had arrived in my account the install was complete within 2 weeks.
System is generating away, charging my EV, running the house & exporting a little which is impressive since it’s been cloudy & wet since the install.

Decided to investigate solar power . Looked at a few providers but settled on Start Solar. They set very clear expectations on what to expect from solar energy and were very competitive if not the best quote. Great communication throughout the process and installation was within 2 weeks of order. I’m not underestimating the work involved on the installation day but it felt simple and hassle free. No mess no upheaval no fuss.
The installation team were friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to explain how it would work they also set up the app for both the main system and EV charger and explained how to use it. I’m a few days in to the system and I have no doubt that Solar is the way to go.

I had Suzie out in April to give me a quote for solar panels after the company did a presentation in my work place. I had been interested for some time but during the presentation it sounded as if it had become more affordable than when I first started looking. Suzie designed a system for us after doing a survey and looking over our electric bill for the year. I opted for 16 panels, inverter, 5kw battery and the Eddi hot water controller. The system was installed at the start of June. The installers were very professional, no wires visible and the system is hidden away. Within just a couple of hours the system was fully functional. I notice that there have been a few miserable days where it didn’t quite cover our electricity usage but most days it covers all of our needs and we also export plenty back to power Ni. Very happy with the system and start solar so far.
Got the solar PV system in (14 panels, 5kW battery, 3.6kW inverter and Eddi water heater) just about 1 week and we’re really pleased with the results. Thus far our draw from the grid is mostly zero and it’s been relatively cloudy too. Installation went really smoothly, was a neat tidy job, and the installers and office folks couldn’t have been more helpful. Calculated payback for the system is ~3.5 years, but with 25+ years warranty on the panels and 12 years on the battery at that point it’s a long period of free energy and is frankly, a total no-brainer! That’s especially true as we have a plug-in hybrid vehicle also so great savings there too! Can’t recommend enough!
