Finance and Administration Assistant
Start Solar is a renewable company. We are looking for an organised, motivated, and detail-oriented Finance and Administration Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a reliable team player with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to learn new skills. You should be able to prioritize your work and be able to manage time effectively. We expect you to be a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Responsibility

  1. Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  2. Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
  3. Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  4. Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts.
  5. Monitor and report on budget performance and provide insights to support decision-making.
  6. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  7. Generate financial reports for management review.
  8. Prepare documentation for audits and liaise with auditors as needed.

Administrative Responsibility

  1. Manage office supplies, inventory and order as necessary.
  2. Coordinate travel and accommodation for staff as required.
  3. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  4. Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts.
  5. Initial point of contact to deal with and redirect customers as required
  6. Meet and greet visitors to the office, providing an initial POC and introduction.
  7. Use and maintain company digital and physical software and filing systems for documents and records.

General Responsibility

  1. Process Improvement identify opportunities for process improvement.
  2. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  3. Work closely with the colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
  4. Comply with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  5. Other tasks as reasonably requested.

Requirements

  1. Proven experience as Bookkeeper or similar role
  2. Proficient in using accounting
    software such as Xero(preferable), QuickBooks, or Sage
  3. Knowledge of financial management principles and practices
  4. Analytical and problem-solving skills
  5. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  8. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  9. Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.
  10. Responsible for updating and maintaining information systems on CRM.
  11. Work safely in adherence to company Health and Safety policy and efficiently at all times.
  12. Maintain KPIs in line with Business requirements.
  13. Other tasks as deemed necessary and within scope of role by Senior Management.

Essential requirements

  1. Accounting/Bookkeeping: 2 years experience minimum
  2. GCSE C or above: Maths and English
  3. Fluent at written and spoken English
  4. IT awareness, competent knowledge and user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Management software
  5. Excellent communication (verbal, written and digital) and interpersonal skills.

Work Location: In office in Manchester, must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work
